Reliance Industries Ltd. said Friday that its first-quarter net profit rose, but that it missed expectations.

The Indian conglomerate said net profit for the quarter ended June 30 rose to 179.55 billion Indian rupees ($2.25 billion) from INR122.73 billion a year earlier, missing an estimate of INR235.45 billion taken from a poll of analysts by FactSet.

First-quarter revenue increased to INR2.231 trillion from INR1.444 trillion a year earlier.
