PEMBROKE, Bermuda (AP) _ RenaissanceRe Holdings Ltd. (RNR) on Thursday reported second-quarter profit of $464.1 million.
On a per-share basis, the Pembroke, Bermuda-based company said it had net income of $9.35. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $5.64 per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.85 per share.
The insurance company posted revenue of $1.48 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $1.27 billion.
RenaissanceRe shares have fallen nearly 9% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $151.43, a decline of 17% in the last 12 months.
