FOCUS ON … THE LAUNCH OF THE 2021 ALPINE ELF EUROPA CUP SEASON

Over the Easter weekend, Alpine kicked off the fourth season of the Alpine Elf Europa Cup with 19 cars on the starting grid.

The competitors got together on the Nogaro circuit, all won over by the exceptional calendar of a category which rubs shoulders with the biggest European GT championships in the world.
Conquered by this unique environment and the resulting career prospects, the protagonists are determined to fight throughout the season for three titles (Overall, Gentlemen and Junior) and € 160,000 in bonuses and endowments, including € 45,000. to take the next step and tackle the GT4 category. For this new season, the A110 Cup is equipped with the A110S engine, the power of which has been increased to 300hp.

Also at Nogaro, two of the Alpine Elf Europa Cup's former standouts scored a resounding double win in the French FFSA GT Championship with the Alpine A110 GT4 entrusted to Gaël Castelli, winner in 2019, and Rodolphe Wallgren.

At the end of this first event of the Alpine Elf Europa Cup, Ugo de Wilde (Herrero Racing) took the lead in the general classification, followed by Laurent Hurgon (LSGROUP Autosport GP) and Lilou Wadoux (Patrick RogerAutosport GP).

The Alpine Elf Europa Cup competitors will now meet at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours (May 7-9) for the second round of the 2021 season.

'Steering with your hips'

In addition to its low overall weight, another distinguishing feature of the A110 is its weight distribution. With its mid-rear mounted engine, and with its fuel tank and battery located behind the front-wheels, the A110 attains near-perfect weight balance (44% front - 56% rear), with most of the weight located between the front and the rear wheels. Behind the front bumper, the radiator is angled at 45 degrees in order to improve air intake and lower the center of gravity as much as possible. The A110's center of gravity is not only very low but also located at the driver's hip point, giving true sense to the phrase 'steering with your hips'.
