STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _ ReneSola Ltd. (SOL) on Wednesday reported a loss of $1.6 million in its fourth quarter.

The Stamford, Connecticut-based company said it had a loss of 2 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, came to 4 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 6 cents per share.

The solar energy company posted revenue of $22.8 million in the period, which also fell short of Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $25.2 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $6.9 million, or 10 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $79.7 million.
