Howa Sangyo Obtains ISCC PLUS Certification

Rengo Co., Ltd. announces that its subsidiary Howa Sangyo Co., Ltd. has obtained the ISCC PLUS certification, an international certification for sustainable products, for its four plants in Narashino, Hikata, Kyoto, and Fukuoka.
Howa Sangyo engages in development, manufacturing, and sales of film packaging for processed foods and confectionery, including package for rice balls and sandwiches sold in convenience stores and other retailers. Upon obtaining the certification, the company is now able to handle plastic films with biomass materials allocated under the mass balance approach, enabling it to supply products with a higher biomass content.
The Rengo Group will continue to expand its lineup of environmentally friendly products and contribute to society by realizing the SDGs.

ISCC PLUS Certification (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification)

This certification system recognizes the management of raw materials procured through the mass balance approach (a procurement method that allocated the content of biomass/recycled components in final products based on the amount of the biomass/recycled materials used) and information sharing in supply chains.
