PLANO, Texas (AP) _ Rent-A-Center Inc. (RCII) on Wednesday reported second-quarter earnings of $61.3 million.

The Plano, Texas-based company said it had net income of 90 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $1.63 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.37 per share.

The company that leases furniture and appliances with an option to buy posted revenue of $1.19 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.13 billion.

Rent-A-Center expects full-year earnings in the range of $5.90 to $6.40 per share, with revenue in the range of $4.55 billion to $4.67 billion.

Rent-A-Center shares have increased 49% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $56.92, a climb of 86% in the last 12 months.
