Repsol S A : sponsors the Grand Prix de Pau "New Energies"

Repsol is sponsoring the Grand Prix de Pau "New Energies" in the south of France on May 6- 8. The historic Grand Prix races, which have been held since 1933, are focused this year on "new energies for our mobility" and will showcase the latest innovation and technology available to promote sustainable mobility.

The Grand Prix program includes the French Formula 4 championship races, where Repsol is supplying the single-seaters with 100% renewable biofuel for use throughout the 2022 season, making this the first single-seater competition in the world to use 100% biofuel in all cars.

Repsol will supply more than 30,000 liters of advanced biofuels manufactured and developed at the Repsol Technology Lab (Madrid). The advanced biofuels meet the sustainability criteria established in the European Renewable Energy Directive (RED), as well as the parameters of the "Advanced Sustainable Fuel" specification set by the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

Other competitions will take place in the French city of Pau, including the FIA WTCR using 65% low-carbon fuels, FIA ETCR for electric cars, the Adour-Océan Biofuel Cup by Twin'Cup, and the tests of the Electric Racing Academy, the world's first electric single-seater championship for young drivers.

In parallel with the competitions, the city of Pau on Friday, May 6, will host a conference dedicated to the energy transition for mobility with the participation of European commissioners, ministers from different European governments, and company representatives, including Luis Cabra, Executive Manager of Energy Transition, Technology, and Institutional Affairs, as well as Deputy CEO of Repsol. In addition, there will be a "New Energies Laboratory" and a "New Mobility Village" with numerous demonstrations of new technology prototypes. The event, which aims to raise awareness among the general public of the innovations and technologies available for sustainable mobility, will bring together innovators, manufacturers, builders, car enthusiasts, and drivers.

The sponsorship of the Pau Grand Prix and the agreement with the French F4 are part of Repsol's global commitment to motorsport, in which the Spanish multi-energy company is involved in several sponsorships. This year, the company sponsored Isidre Esteve in the Dakar 2022, where they jointly developed the biofuel with which the car driver competed. In MotoGP, where the company sponsors the official Honda team, Repsol is working to ensure that by 2024 the fuels used by the teams will be made up of at least 40% non-fossil fuel, with the aim that by 2027 all motorcycles will use this specification 100%, following the guidelines of the competition.

Repsol's link with the world of motor racing now exceeds 50 years, during which the company has developed its products to obtain the best performance. In the 21st century, Repsol is committed to sustainability and energy efficiency, thinking about the future to develop better fuels. The high-level competition will once again serve Repsol as a test bench for developing its future products, with the aim that one day they will be available to its customers at its service stations.
