Restaurant Brands International Inc. has named former RBI Asia-Pacific president, Sami Siddiqui, as president of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen for the Americas, a news release said. Siddiqui previously led growth for the company's brands — Popeyes, Burger King and Tim Hortons — throughout the Asian region, including introducing Popeyes in China and the Philippines.

"Popeyes is a brand with a well-known heritage and more recently has demonstrated unprecedented growth through exceptional menu innovation in our iconic Chicken Sandwich," RBI CEO Jose Cil, said in the release. "Sami has an excellent track record working with our franchisees to drive our brand and restaurant expansion."

Siddiqui replaces Felipe Athayde, who is leaving RBI to pursue a role outside of the quick-service restaurant industry. They will work together, however, to smoothly make the transition.

"Felipe has all our best wishes for his next endeavor," Cil said.

Restaurant Brands International Inc. is one of the world's largest quick-service restaurant companies with nearly $32 billion in annual system-wide sales and more than 27,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries and U.S. territories. RBI is based in Toronto, Canada, while Burger King and Popeyes brands are headquartered in Miami, Florida.
