Ridley Corporation Limited announced that it has officially opened the $47 million, facility located at Wellsford, East Bendigo. The feedmill, which has an annual production capacity of 350,000 tonnes, will supply poultry and pig customers in the region of Central and Northern Victoria. Construction of the Wellsford facility commenced in April 2019 after it was identified that the existing facility in Bendigo had reached capacity and was unable to support the future growth of the animal protein industry in the region. Employees and production have been transitioned to Wellsford from the existing feedmill in Bendigo, which has now been closed and is being prepared for divestment. Production at the Mooroopna feedmill will also be absorbed by the Wellsford facility, with customers and production volumes being transitioned over the next six to nine months. The Wellsford feedmill investment completes Ridley's asset renewal program following the construction of new facilities at Westbury, Tasmania, and the Lara and Pakenham facilities in Victoria. In the last eight years, Ridley has invested $150 million in these four new facilities to support the future growth of the Australian animal protein and companion animal industries.
