Rimini Street Inc. was held in contempt of court in a case versus Oracle International in the District Court for the District of Nevada.

The court said Rimini willfully and repeatedly violated the court's 2018 permanent injunction to stop violating Oracle's intellectual property rights.

Oracle said that after finding that Rimini's contemptuous conduct was "extensive, deliberate, and pervasive," the court fined Rimini $630,000 and found that Oracle is entitled to attorneys' fees, which the court anticipated would be "sizable."

Rimini said the permanent injunction defines the manner in which Rimini Street can provide support services for certain Oracle product lines but doesn't prohibit support of any Oracle products.

Rimini said that despite extensive discovery by Oracle that began more than two years ago and included millions of pages of documents, only ten items were ultimately before the court in the evidentiary hearing.

In its findings and order from the hearing, the court ruled in favor of Rimini Street on five items. For the other five items, the court found the company violated the permanent injunction, awarded sanctions of $630,000 and ordered that certain computer files be quarantined from use.

Rimini Street said it is evaluating its options and considering potential next steps, which could include an appeal to the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Rimini Street shares were down 3% to $5.19 in midday trading.
