Casino will leave the SBF 120 as of December 23, Euronext announced in a press release on Thursday, while the French index will include Medincell, Planisware and Robertet.

The delisting of Casino, France's seventh-largest supermarket group in terms of market share, is mainly due to a drop in its market capitalization to 446.51 million euros.

In dire financial straits, Casino came close to insolvency last year after years of debt-financed acquisitions. The group was taken over at the beginning of 2024 by Czech businessman Daniel Kretinsky, as part of an extensive financial restructuring involving store disposals and job cuts.

Euronext has also announced that pharmaceutical supplier Euroapi and satellite group Eutelsat will also be excluded from the SBF 120.

The three excluded companies will be replaced by Medincell, a biopharmaceutical company, Planisware, specialized in the development of project and portfolio management software, and Robertet, active in flavors, fragrances and natural ingredients.

On the Paris Bourse, at around 10:50 GMT, Casino, Eutelsat and Euroapi were down between 0.2% and 1.2%, compared with a 0.4% rise for the SBF 120 at the same time, while Planisware, Robertet and Medincell gained between 1.3% and 4.1%.

All these changes will be effective from December 23, according to the Euronext press release.

The composition of the CAC 40 index remains unchanged.
