Enviroo and Robinson leaders recognised for innovation and leadership

Companies expected to research and collaborate to transform the way we package and recycle.

Leaders of two companies who look set to collaborate and transform the way the UK recycles and packages, have been recognised for their leadership and innovation.

Enviroo, specialist PET (polyethylene terephthalate) recycler, has seen its Founder and Chief Executive Ahmed Detta, recognised for his work in the official History of Parliament Trust's '300 Years of Leadership and Innovation' book.

Robinson, the manufacturer specialising in value-added custom packaging, also has its Chief Executive, Dr Helene Roberts, recognised.

The book was launched at Westminster Abbey earlier this year on the week of The Queen's Official Birthday.

Both Detta and Robert's vision for a more innovative and circular approach to packaging and recycling has been recognised in the Trust's book which highlights examples of achievement and progress across the social, cultural, political, technological and commercial spheres.

Detta's ambitious vision is to disrupt the UK's recycling industry with a total reimagination of the recycling industry if we are to change our relationship with plastics.

Robinson's history of innovation in packaging has seen the company develop a range of plastic and paperboard packaging for the food, homecare, personal care & beauty and luxury gift markets.

Enviroo and Robinson's planned collaborations will be focusing on processing food-grade plastics including PET and Polypropene (PP), a plastic that is more difficult to recycle for use in food-contact packaging than HDPE and PET packaging.

PP is the most dominant polymer in the recycling stream. In Europe alone 10 million tonnes of PP is produced and only 15% of this is being recycled.

By joining forces Enviroo hope both companies can help make technical advances in recycling PP to meet food safety standards whilst championing the need for a truly circular approach to recycling and packaging.

Commenting on the accolade and collaboration with Robinson, Ahmed Detta, CEO & Founder of Enviroo, said:

"My appointment as Patron of the History of Parliament Trust's 300 Years of Leadership and Innovation recognises how recycling has become integral to the way we live and is finally 'on trend'. I am honoured to be recognised amongst other innovators such as Dr Helene Roberts, whose passion for tackling waste and protecting the environment aligns with Enviroo's core values. We hope to collaborate with Robinson to help transform the way we all recycle and package- creating a truly circular, sustainable economy."

Dr Helene Roberts, Chief Executive of Robinson said:

"Robinson has long history of social responsibility, with protecting the environment a major driver for the business. Much of Robinson's packaging portfolio is made from recycled plastic or recycled paperboard and is widely recyclable. We are honoured to have been recognised with this appointment and look forward to working with Enviroo to deliver a new approach to packaging. With pioneering research we hope we can drive a circular, sustainable supply chain and get to a point where we don't use any new resources. We introduced recycled material long before it was popular to do so and have a goal to create a stable end-market for the packaging material that people put in their recycling bin. We believe it can be done at all levels when we are creative and collaborative."
