New report shows that Rogers provides its customers with consistent Internet services during peak and off-peak usage periods

TORONTO, September 8, 2020 - Today, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) released the results of a study by SamKnows, the second report from its Measuring Broadband Canada project that evaluates the performance of broadband services on packages with download speeds of up to 600 Mbps offered by major Canadian Internet Service Providers (ISPs) against their advertised maximum download and upload speeds.

The tests, conducted in October of last year, show that Rogers once again exceeds more than 100% of its advertised speeds and that the majority of other ISPs are also delivering the speeds they promise, in both peak and off-peak hours. This is great news for consumers across the country as it demonstrates that Canada's networks are fully capable and well designed to support increased activity and usage. This was never more important than during the height of COVID-19 when usage on the Rogers network increased by 50% during the daytime. During this period, the Rogers network continued to deliver a consistent experience for its customers.

'We are committed to offering our customers fast, dependable Internet service that they can count on to keep them connected to what matters most,' said Eric Bruno, SVP - 5G, Content and Connected Home Products. 'These results reflect the ongoing investments that we have made in our fibre-powered network to increase speed and capacity and will continue to be a focus now and in the future as demand for data grows.'

Rogers results:

  • All Rogers Internet packages tested exceeded the top advertised speeds for both download and upload
  • On average, Rogers delivered 130% of the maximum advertised download speed during off-peak periods and 129% during peak periods
  • On average, Rogers delivered 106% of the maximum advertised upload speed during off-peak periods and 104% during peak periods
