Recently Menno de Jonge, Director Digital Construction, and Celine Bent, Head of Innovation, attended the Innogy innovation hub in Tel Aviv, Israel, organised by Innogy a leading global investor in technology start-ups. Innogy shares a similar vision to BAM with its focus on sustainability, innovation and desire to digitise and disrupt the construction industry.

Construction is a growth market for many Israeli start-ups and is attracting increasing numbers of local venture capitalists and support from the Israeli government. Israel seems to have a very strong start-up scene (with a high density of start-ups), due to the strong military connection with its focus on intelligence/AI and open culture where failure/risk taking seems to be encouraged. BAM's visit was viewed with great interest from the local press.

During the visit the BAM team met with a number of construction start-ups, whose businesses would align closely with our current business activities and help us to achieve our strategic goal to be a market leader in innovation and digital construction.

Following the team's visit to Israel we have been exploring ways to support the deployment of some of these technologies on site and we plan to engage in a 'design partnership' with some start-ups..

Two of the Israeli start-ups LightYX and FirmusAI will be joining us at our stand at digital construction week in London on 17 and 18 October 2018.
