The Supervisory Board of Royal KPN N.V. announces its intention to appoint Mr J. (Joost) Farwerck to KPN's Board of Management. The Supervisory Board will inform shareholders of the appointment during the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM), which will take place on 29 May 2013.

Joost Farwerck (47) joined KPN in 1994 and he has held various senior management positions across a number of segments in The Netherlands. Per 15 February 2012 Mr Farwerck was appointed Managing Director The Netherlands and given responsibility for all of KPN's activities in The Netherlands. He will henceforth maintain this responsibility for The Netherlands at Board level.

Chairman of the Supervisory Board Jos Streppel said: "We are very pleased to welcome Joost Farwerck to the KPN Board. He brings substantial knowledge of the Dutch activities, combining commercial experience with an outstanding knowledge of innovation and networks. Joost has been responsible for the accelerated investment strategy in The Netherlands in 2012, which has led to a stabilization in market shares across segments. Furthermore, the operational performance of Consumer Residential is particularly encouraging. I know Joost as a very decisive, experienced and results driven manager, with an excellent track record in execution."

The remuneration package of Mr Farwerck fits within KPN's remuneration policy as approved by the General Meeting of Shareholders. Based on the new legislation effective 1st January 2013, a service provision agreement will be agreed upon for an initial period of 4 years which provides for a base compensation of EUR 575,000,- per year. Furthermore, Mr Farwerck will be eligible for a short term variable cash incentive and a long term variable incentive (based on conditional shares), which are both related to the performance of KPN, in line with KPN's remuneration policy.
