COLOGNE (dpa-AFX) - The television station Super RTL is turning 30. "In three decades, an ambitious television project has become the undisputed number one in the German children's entertainment market, operating under the Toggo brand since 2001," the station announced on its anniversary.
The first program Super RTL aired on April 28, 1995, at 6:00 p.m. was the first episode of "Neue Abenteuer mit Winnie Puuh" (New Adventures with Winnie the Pooh). The creators of the joint venture between the Luxembourg-based RTL Group and the American Walt Disney Company understood the channel as family-friendly from the outset. "The aim was to create a program offering that appeals to both children and adults alike – with international series, feature films, and entertaining show formats," the statement said.
This initially resulted in a wild mix: in the early days, the channel not only showed classic cartoons, but also Bavarian comedy sketches from "Peter Steiner's Theaterstadl," the TV dance show "Schlagerclub mit Frank," and old episodes of the comedy game show "Alles Nichts Oder?!"
New formats for the anniversary
Super RTL is launching three new formats to mark its anniversary, thereby expanding its multimedia offering. In the multi-part reality documentary "Ninja Warrior Kids Academy," twelve sports-mad kids between the ages of 12 and 15 take part in an intensive training camp – coached by real "Ninja Warrior" stars. Only four of them will make it to the big stage of "Ninja Warrior Germany" at the end.
For gaming fans, the "Toggo GG Podcast" will launch in June. It is dedicated to the world of gaming from the perspective of children and parents.
"And with the 'Toggo Liga,' soccer around the Bundesliga is entering the digital world of experience," Super RTL announced. "Talk shows, sketches, and daily clips capture the passion of young fans and bring soccer culture directly to the Toggo app, YouTube, and RTL+."/bok/DP/zb
