RTL Group started 2025 strong. The number of paying subscribers for its streaming services increased by 18 percent, crossing the seven million user mark. Both streaming and digital advertising revenues grew 29 percent, offsetting the decline in TV advertising revenues.

Production house Fremantle made progress in IP development and the use of artificial intelligence. A clear example is the launch of a new AI-focused production label: Imaginae Studios.

RTL Group's total revenue decreased by 2 percent to €1,292 million (Q1 2024: €1,318 million). This decline was mainly due to lower content revenues at Fremantle and declining TV advertising, although this was partly offset by growth in streaming revenues. Organically, the revenue decline was 5.6 percent.

Total ad revenues remained stable at €685 million (Q1 2024: also €685 million), of which: 507 million came from TV advertising (Q1 2024: €528 million), 103 million from digital ads (Q1 2024: €80 million) and 75 million from radio, print and other channels (Q1 2024: €77 million).

In Germany, RTL Deutschland achieved a combined market share of 26.2 percent among the commercial target group of 14- to 59-year-olds in Q1 2025 (Q1 2024: 28.1 percent). This still put RTL 6.4 percentage points ahead of ProSiebenSat.1 (Q1 2024: 8.0 percentage point lead). RTL, the group's main network, was also the only commercial channel with a double-digit average market share of 10.1 percent (Q1 2024: 10.9 percent).
