COLOGNE (dpa-AFX) - RTL is canceling its casting show "Das Supertalent." This was announced by RTL Germany's program director, Inga Leschek, to the industry media outlet dwdl.de. The broadcaster has many well-established shows. "But not all brands age equally well," said the television manager.

Show suffered from competition from TikTok

"Das Supertalent suffers from the fact that short performances by spectacular talents from all over the world can be accessed anytime, anywhere on TikTok and YouTube," Leschek explained. "And admittedly, we have not been able to find a viable response to this. The audience has made that very clear. That's why we won't be continuing the format for the time being."

"Das Supertalent" focuses on performances by people with special talents. From fakir shows and artistic whistling to yodeling and belly dancing, the broadcaster had already taken the show, which was introduced in 2007 as the German version of the international format "Got Talent," off the air in 2021 due to poor ratings and had just revived it in 2024.

The last season of the two comeback seasons aired in April of this year. The jury consisted of Dieter Bohlen, Bruce Darnell, Ekaterina Leonova, and Tony Bauer.

In the same dwdl.de interview, the RTL manager also announced the end of Stefan Raab's weekly show "Du gewinnst hier nicht die Million bei Stefan Raab" in its current form. /bok/DP/men
