Rurelec PLC (AIM:RUR) is seeking a buyer for its Central Illapa power plant development in northern Chile. "In developing the project, we worked closely with the government as we were the perfect case study for their energy agenda. They wanted gas plants, foreign investment and new entrants to the market. Here we are in 2018 and Rurelec has taken the decision to market test the sale of its Illapa project. Part of that decision relates to our own internal restructuring and the fact we that haven't recapitalized after the Bolivian arbitration," Project Director Tom Bouwens told BNamericas. There is an option to acquire the project with or without associated open cycle configuration power plant equipment, including two Fiat Avio-Siemens Westinghouse TG50D5/W701DS gas turbines that can utilize natural gas or HFO.
