RWE : Great Yarmouth Power Station reaches 20 years without any Lost Time Accidents

Yesterday was the 'World Day for Safety and Health at Work', RWE is committed to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of everyone who works with and for us. To demonstrate this, a significant milestone was recently reached at RWE's Great Yarmouth Power Station, who achieved 20 years without a Lost Time Accident (LTA) on site.

An LTA is an accident that has resulted in the individual, or individuals involved, requiring time off work and this can significantly impact not only on site operations, but also disrupt personal circumstances and family life.

This milestone is an incredible achievement, and is a product of the people's commitment at the station to maintain a positive health, safety and wellbeing culture over two decades.

Ian Johnson, Great Yarmouth Power Station Site Manager, was keen to emphasise the role his team have played in sustaining this record, saying: 'I would like to sincerely thank and congratulate everyone for their continued support and efforts in making the station a safe and happy place to work. Health, safety and wellbeing will remain our highest priority.'

Great Yarmouth Power station is a a combined cycle gas and steam turbine power plant, with a capacity of 420 MW, which is enough to meet the needs of more than 300,000 households. The power plant was built in 2000 and commissioned in 2002, however went through a major upgrade during 2018. This significant project has increased station output and efficiency, as well as extending the lifetime of the plant, enabling greater flexibility in its operations and improving emissions.
