Ryanair today (Tues, 10 Dec) released its December OTA Survey which exposes more harmful OTA overcharges by eDreams (& also Booking.com) of over 170%. eDreams charged its customers the biggest mark-up in Dec, overcharging consumers (€15.62) for a reserved seat that costs just €5.62 on Ryanair.com. eDreams also charged consumers more than double the price (€13.18) for Ryanair priority boarding service that cost just €6.18 on Ryanair's website and more than twice the price (€26.99) for a 10kg bag that cost just €12.99 on Ryanair.com.
Booking.com was also exposed for overcharging consumers for flights on other airlines that are much cheaper when booked directly on these airline websites.
Ryanair continues to campaign to protect consumers from the few remaining overcharging OTAs, like eDreams and Booking.com, and calls on EU Govts and consumer authorities to compel all OTAs to offer consumers transparent pricing, just like Ryanair's many "Approved OTA" partners now do.
Ryanair's Dara Brady said:
"Our December survey continues to expose OTAs, like eDreams and Booking.com, who continue to overcharge unsuspecting consumers with harmful mark-ups of up to 178% above airline prices for reserved seats, air fares, priority boarding and bags.
Ryanair continues to campaign to protect consumers from these few remaining overcharging OTAs, and we call on EU governments and consumer authorities to take urgent action to outlaw these non-transparent OTA practices."
