Safran announced today that Ryanair and CFM International have signed a contract for the purchase of 30 CFM LEAP-1B replacement engines.
These engines are intended to support the growth of the airline's Boeing 737 MAX fleet.
These latest-generation CFM engines reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 20% per seat when installed on our B737 MAX fleet, Ryanair said.
Ryanair has been a CFM customer since 1998 and operates the largest fleet of Boeing aircraft powered by CFM, including the largest fleet of new-generation 737s powered by CFM56 engines in Europe.
The Ireland-based airline currently operates 181 737-8-200 aircraft powered by LEAP engines, with 29 aircraft still to be delivered under a 2014 order. In 2023, Ryanair placed a new order for LEAP-1B engines to power 150 firm Boeing 737-10 aircraft and 150 options.
