The final of Droneload took place last June. This competition organized by Planete Sciences challenges students, mainly from engineering schools, to design their own drone. Safran covered the event as a sponsor and jury for the final.

Droneload 2022 roll-up

After several months of development and prototyping, the participants of Droneload competition met for a grand finale, held in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. The program: an initiation workshop to drone handling for children and, of course, a demonstration of the contest participants' prototypes on predefined tests. Inspired by the taxi-drones for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the demonstrators had to:

Pass through windows of 80, 50 and 30 cm on each side

Retrieve and deposit objects on platforms

Identify signs

A jury of engineers, institutions and members of Planete Sciences was here to evaluate the performance of the various prototypes. Among them were two Safran Electronics & Defense employees: Luc Alba (R&T) and Christophe Labaume (Intellectual Property).

The jury praised the agility and commitment of the participants, who faced extremely technical challenges. The teams showed clear progress compared with previous years, which bodes well for future editions, which Safran will sponsor. As a result, first place went to the ESTACA team, followed respectively by those of ENSEIRB, ESIEA and the University of Haute Alsace.
