Like many other businesses, over the last 18 months Saga has been on a journey towards a new hybrid work model which blends home-based working with the flexibility to work from its centralised hub in Enbrook. The award is testament to the work that has gone into making hybrid working possible and the ways in which colleagues across Saga have adapted. Specifically, the award celebrates the way in which Workplace has been used within Saga to continue to connect, communicate and collaborate over the last 18 months.

To align with Saga's recent rebrand and celebration of 'Experience is Everything', Saga colleagues were at the centre of the move towards hybrid working. The adoption of Workplace in 2020 formed part of a wider strategy which aimed to engage with colleagues on the new ways of work and to maintain colleague engagement levels during this transitionary period. As part of this communication plan and strategy, Saga set up dedicated Workplace groups, delivered video updates from the hybrid working project team, ran weekly polls to encourage engagement between colleagues and shared regular updates from Groups CEO, Euan Sutherland.

In addition, to keep up colleague morale through the lockdown at the start of the year, Saga launched its "Staying In Programme" which was designed to support colleagues through the challenging period. A key part of this was a "Step Up Challenge" whereby Saga colleagues set themselves a target to log their steps in an effort to walk to the moon and raised £10,000 for Leukaemia Care in the process.

Jane Storm, Chief People Officer at Saga said: "This award is great recognition of how we've adapted to hybrid working,. Last year, we won the Workplace award for Best Newcomer, so to win the coveted award for Hybrid Working one year on is testament to all that we have achieved together since we embarked on our new ways of working at Saga."
