Saia, Inc. announced earnings results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2021. For the second quarter, the company announced sales was USD 571.333 million compared to USD 418.114 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 82.925 million compared to USD 35.681 million a year ago. Net income was USD 62.474 million compared to USD 28.454 million a year ago. Basic earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 2.37 compared to USD 1.09 a year ago. Diluted earnings per share from continuing operations was USD 2.34 compared to USD 1.07 a year ago. For the half year, sales was USD 1,055.407 million compared to USD 864.510 million a year ago. Operating income was USD 131.639 million compared to USD 74.457 million a year ago. Saia, Inc. is a transportation company. The Company provides less-than-truckload (LTL) services through a single integrated organization. It also offers customers a range of other value-added services, including non-asset truckload, expedited, and logistics services across North America. Its subsidiary, Saia Motor Freight Line, LLC (Saia LTL Freight), is an LTL carrier that serves 45 states and provides LTL services to Canada and Mexico through relationships with third-party interline carriers. Saia LTL Freight specializes in offering its customers a range of LTL services, including time-definite and expedited options. Saia LTL Freight primarily provides its customers with solutions for shipments between 100 and 10,000 pounds. Saia LTL Freight operates a network comprised of approximately 198 owned and leased facilities, including three general offices and one warehouse, and also owns approximately 6,500 tractors and 22,100 trailers, including equipment acquired with finance leases.
