SAIC Roewe E50 Electric Sedan Won the 2012 CIIF Golden Award for Innovations


The 14th China International Industry Fair (CIIF) was closed on the afternoon of November 10, 2012, and the awards were also announced one by one in the closing ceremony. The Roewe E50 electric car of SAIC Motor Corporation Limited won the only Golden Award for Innovations.

CIIF is an important window showcasing the latest technologies and products in equipment manufacturing and information technology in the modern world, also the only exhibition with awarding functionality approved by the State Council of China. This session of CIIF awarded 38 exhibits from 199 exhibits presented by 173 domestic and foreign participating enterprises, including 4 golden awards, 9 silvers, 14 bronze, 1 golden award for innovations, and 10 awards for innovation. The award-winning exhibits represent the innovational capabilities and levels of the advanced equipment manufacturers home and abroad, especially the latest progress that China has made in relevant strategic emerging industries.

The Roewe E50 pure electric sedan that SAIC Motor owns full intellectual property is the first electric vehicle created on a whole-new platform structure in China. It has been released to the market on November 5 successfully. The maximum speed of the model is 130 km/hr, its continued mileage under uniform velocity is 180 kilometers. The model is equipped with DC fast charging and AC slow charging functions, for fast charging, 80% of capacity can be charged with 30 minutes; for slow charging, the household power can be used to charge full capacity with 6 hours.

This model is built on a whole-new vehicle platform developed by SAIC Motor only for pure electric vehicles. It is equipped with a high-performing electric-drive system, electric power steering system, and thermal management system across the vehicle, and other advanced parts, truly realizing zero emissions. The entire vehicle has a multi-level high-voltage security system, and all high-voltage electric components are designed to reach the IP67 dust and waterproof rating, and the entire vehicle also passed the validation of the safety crash test, which is a fundamental guarantee for the security of electric vehicles. As of September 2012, a total of 94 national patents have been applied for Roewe E50 pure electric vehicle, and 63 of them have been officially authorized.
