LECA, a Saint-Gobain Group manufacturer of expanded clay, is investing €2.5 million in Estonia to reopen its Häädemeeste plant due to solid perspectives in the construction market. This plant - closed in 2007 - will be back in operation end 2022. in order to modernize the industrial processes and replace the use of coal as an energy source with more sustainable biomass.

The investment will upgrade the site, making several processes automatic and changing the energy source from coal to biomass, which will reduce its CO2 emissions very significantly compared to the old facility.
