Walmart is teaming up with Salesforce to sell proprietary tech, services, customer insights and digital advertising.

It also hopes to drive its GoLocal delivery services sales, according to a CNBC report.

The news comes as retailers are streamlining and reducing costs in light of inflation. In Walmart's case, while consumers are buying groceries, other product lines such as clothes and electronics are not seeing increasing sales.

Walmart Global Chief Technology Officer Suresh Kumar said the deal with Salesforce will help Walmart improve the experience for shoppers.

"By bringing in other retailers, we can understand what the customer needs are throughout the shopping journey and then be able to improve our products to be able to serve the customer no matter how, where or when they shop," Walmart Global CTO Suresh Kumar told the news outlet. "That ultimately is going to benefit us also because we will continue to keep improving our products."

In terms of selling its services Walmart isn't giving away all its secrets, said Kumar.

"We are actually very deliberate in terms of choosing the kinds of technologies that we want to offer to other businesses," he said.
