Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden AB (publ) (SBB) commences the construction of 161 apartments in Västra Erikslid in Skellefteå. With innovative technology, the buildings will have an energy use that is half of what the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning's building regulations prescribe. The buildings are built with a wooden frame in the factory and arrive at the construction site for assembly into finished buildings. By industrializing the construction process, the construction time is shortened and becomes more resource efficient and thus more sustainable. Occupancy will take place at the end of 2022. The buildings will contain apartments (one to three bedroom). The contractor is Lindbäcks Bygg in Piteå. Through innovative technology, the buildings will have a low energy use. Heat energy is utilized in wastewater at the same time as solar cells are installed on the roofs, resulting in the entire project being sustainable for the environment.
