The release of the new Samsung Galaxy S25 series is not yet for immediately, yet we already have the first rumors. This includes some good news, as the Ultra model is said to get a serious upgrade on the camera front.

In the news: The well-known leaker Ice Universe shared on the Chinese social medium - via Android Authority - the first rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. He believes that the high-end device will still have a quad camera, but that two of the lenses will be a lot better than in the S24 Ultra.

The details: The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which came out early this year, has a 200 MP primary camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide camera, a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 50 MP supertelephoto camera sensor with 5x optical zoom.

  • The Samsung Galaxy S25 would keep that first and last lens, but provide the other two lenses with an upgrade. Namely, these will be a 50 MP ultra-wide camera, a 50 MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. That should already enable 8K video recording on the S25 Ultra.
  • Other rumors even talk about a revamped 200 MP primary camera, which would improve quality even more.

Pixel binning: The advantage of these upgraded 50 MP lenses is that they support "pixel binning. This is a technique that combines the data from four or more pixels into a single pixel. That way, photos get more detail and less noise. This is especially useful in low-light photos.

Anyway, these rumors about these upgrades are good news for Samsung fans. That brand has received a lot of criticism recently because the quality of the camera of their top devices often had to give up in comparison with competitors. If the Galaxy S25 rumors turn out to be true, that difference would be eliminated.
