Jakarta - Pertamina releases the inaugural Java Satu FSRU Ship to sea level.

Until January 2020, progress has reached 62.5% overall. This achievement value is 0.1% faster than the initial target, which is 62.4%.

The celebration of the release of the Java One FSRU Ship was held at the Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) shipyard in Geoje-si, near Busan, South Korea, on Saturday, January 11, 2020.

The release was attended by Pertamina's Upstream Director, Dharmawan H Samsu and Pertamina Power Indonesia's (PPI) Managing Director Daily Tasks, Indra Trigha.

Pertamina Upstream Director Dharmawan H Samsu stated that the construction of the Jawa Satu Project was very strategic for Pertamina's efforts to contribute to the fulfillment of national energy, including the national electricity program. Achieving the stages in accordance with those targeted in the FSRU Ship building project schedule, shows good cooperation between the Java Satu Project Sponsors and also with the Ship Building Contractor - Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI). It is expected that in November 2020, naming can be done on this Java FSRU Ship One.

'This release is an important stage for completing the entire scope of the Java Satu project. We hope that the success of the achievement can be sustained so that the entire project is completed according to the target, 'he said on the sidelines of the release event at the SHI shipyard location, South Korea.

With this achievement, Dharmawan continued, Pertamina hopes that SHI can complete the construction of the Java One FSRU Ship in a timely, quality, budget-appropriate manner.

According to him, the Java Satu FSRU Ship is a major supporting facility and is directly integrated with the Java Satu PLTGU. Later the ship will rationalize LNG supplies originating from the Tangguh Papua Train-3 LNG Train where commissioning of the FSRU vessel regasification unit will be carried out in March 2021.

Furthermore, gas delivery will be carried out through a 21 km pipeline to the Java Satu Steam Power Plant (PLTGU) located in the District of Cilamaya Wetan, Karawang Regency, West Java. The electricity generated by the Java-1 PLTGU will be sent through a 500 kV transmission line to the PLN substation in Cibatu Dua District, Bekasi Regency.

'The ship will be off the coast of Cilamaya for 20 years of continuous operation, before the need for dry docking,' said Dharmawan.

This FSRU ship has a liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo storage capacity of 170,150 m3 with a regasification unit capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). This FSRU ship will later be integrated with a gas-powered power plant with a double turbine (CCGT, Combined Cycle Gas Turbine) with a capacity of 1,760 MW.

The FSRU will have 4 train regasification vaporizer units each with a capacity of 100 MMSCFD that can rationalize LNG continuously for the supply of Java Satu PLTGU.

The PLTGU, including a national strategic project, will contribute greatly to meeting electricity needs in Indonesia, which continues to grow.

'PLTGU which is part of the Government's program in the construction of 35,000 MW power plants will meet electricity demand, which continues to increase in line with the growing needs of the community and industry in the country,' concluded Dharmawan.
