Sasol Ltd. on Tuesday reported a rise in profit for fiscal 2022 and reintroduced a dividend.

The South African chemicals-and-energy group attributed its performance to higher energy and chemical prices, more stable operations and strong cost and capital discipline against a backdrop of increased volatility from heightened geopolitical tensions, extended Covid-19 pandemic-related lockdowns and global supply chain disruptions.

Earnings per share for the year ended June 30 was 62.34 South African rand (367 U.S. cents) compared with an EPS of ZAR14.57 a year earlier. Sasol had guided for an EPS of between ZAR60.59 and ZAR63.51 earlier this month.

Headline EPS was ZAR47.58 compared with ZAR39.53, while core headline EPS was ZAR68.54 compared with ZAR27.74 a year prior.

The company had guided for headline EPS of between ZAR42.84 and ZAR50.74 and core headline EPS of between ZAR65.21 and ZAR70.76.

The company declared a final dividend of ZAR14.70. It didn't declare a final or interim dividend last year.
