Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden), Saudi Arabia's national mining champion, has signed an agreement with King Saud University to further its efforts related to the research and development of mining technology.

It was signed between H.E. Dr. Badran Al-Omran, president of King Saud University and Robert Wilt, CEO of Ma'aden, with presence of representatives from both sides.

H.E. Dr. Badran Al-Omran, President of King Saud University, commented the five-years agreement with Ma'aden, aims to promote collaboration on scientific and technical research and establish a joint research program to develop technology solutions. He added that the agreement will harness research and development expertise within a governed framework, he pointed out that according to the agreement all intellectual property rights will be jointly owned by both parties for internal, academic, and non-commercial use.

Robert Wilt, CEO of Ma'aden, said: 'The mining industry plays a key role in diversifying the Saudi economy and realizing Vision 2030. Our 2040 strategy aims to accelerate our growth and pioneering efforts in the industry. Our partnership with King Saud University will allow us to research emerging mining technologies and develop the solutions of tomorrow, including exploring ways to make mining in Saudi Arabia more sustainable.'

The agreement seeks to maximize the outputs and governance of scientific research and enhance bilateral collaboration between KSU and Ma'aden. TO develop the mining industry in the Kingdom based on a more advanced and competitive approach on par with its global competitors and to achieve the targets of The Saudi Vision 2030.
