STC uses alternative solutions to face the effects of the Khamis Mushait exchange fire

further to the announcement made by STC Sunday evening regarding the fire that broke out in one of its buildings in Khamis Mushait of Asir yesterday afternoon and its direct impact on STC services in Khamis Mushait Mohafazat and its outskirts, STC would like to inform that the efforts to contain the consequences of the fire continue round the clock. These involved moving mobile Jawal exchanges to the area to be used as temporary Jawal and Landline exchanges. Large volumes of mobile network traffic is being moved to Abha, Taif and Najran exchange. The company said in the statement the Civil Defense is still prohibiting access to the site for safety reasons and promised to allow access to STC concerned staff Monday afternoon to enable them assess the situation and the damages. STC revealed that the fire has affected 668 data circuits serving 129 Business customers, 1600 FTTH customers who are served by 5 cabinets and 176 cabinets serving landline network. The number of customers expected to be affected with the fire are about 73 thousands and the impact of the fire included 646 2G and 3G Jawal locations. STC said in its statement yesterday the present impact on the said locations included the whole mobile network and about 70 - 80% of 2G and 3G Jawal in the area and totally affected data and internet services and associated services.
