The site - which is the last phase of a successful urban extension - has been bought by developers Taylor Wimpey and Vistry.

Endurance Estates acted as promoter on behalf of a consortium including Cemex, Diocese of Norwich, The Brewster Charity and RW Estates and secured planning permission for the site, with the land being sold through Savills Norwich.

The developers' reserved matters application has already been submitted to South Norfolk District Council and a decision is expected in early Summer 2021.

The site has planning permission for 550 new homes, with 15% affordable housing, as well as a new primary school and scenic woodland area, making it a great location for young families and first-time buyers. The transport routes have been carefully considered for those commuting into the city of Norwich and will be made up of footpath and cycle links to South Wymondham Train Station and a brand-new subway.

Director David Merrick, from the development team at Savills Norwich, said: 'Acting for the landowners we worked closely with Endurance Estates to ensure the final phase of this well located site can now move forward and provide more housing in this popular location. The residential strategy for the site is focused around creating a great place for people to live and will help the county to meet some of its longer term housing needs.'

Commenting on the final phase, Director of Cambridge-based Endurance Estates, Tim Holmes continued: 'The completion of this last phase at Birch Gate brings forward the opportunity for the delivery of new private and affordable homes in a sustainable location, close to the town centre and within walking distance of the train station.'

Land Director Andrew Wilson at Taylor Wimpey added: 'We are pleased to have worked with Endurance Estates over the last few years and are delighted that we are now able to bring forward the last remaining phase with a mixture of private and affordable homes, a new primary school and highway improvements.'
