At the Transportation Week 2020, which Moscow is hosting from November 16 to November 20, Sber, the Moscow Government, and the Government of Moscow Region have signed a strategy to promote their SberTroika JV across Russian regions. The strategy is designed for partnerships when developing public transport.

The agreement covers joint development of the public transportation infrastructure for contactless and electronic payments in Russia, efforts to increase the share of non-cash payments, adoption of convenient and effective payment tools for passengers, putting in place more remote and contactless replenishment options for transit passes, including through the use of stakeholders' infrastructure.

Kirill Tsaryov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank:

'The synergy of the competencies and resources of Sber, Moscow Government, and the Government of Moscow Region will result in the best possible development of transportation infrastructure and let us pool our innovative experience with other regions of Russia. At Sber, the development of contactless and non-cash payments is one of the important lines of work. For example, in October alone we registered a record when passengers paid their fares 112 million times using our bank's acquiring services. In 2020, merchant acquiring on public transport has been used to pay fares more than 750 million times.'

Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of Moscow, Head of Moscow's Department for Transport and Road Infrastructure Development:

'The best fare development solutions that have proven their effectiveness will be promoted across Russian regions with our partners, Sberbank and the Government of Moscow Region. This month we have successfully integrated the Moscow ticketing system and launched the Troika card in Tula Region. In January, a similar project will start in Moscow Region. Due to the launch of a new ticketing system, residents will have new ways to add money to their transit passes and pay fares. The Troika ecosystem will be launched, which will include a loyalty program. On top of that, we will offer innovative ticketing solutions to the regions that'll be our partners. For example, passengers will be able to pay fares without a physical card, using a virtual Troika. This will improve the quality of transport services in Russia significantly.'

Igor Treskov, Vice Governor, Moscow Region:

'The signing of the promotion strategy of SberTroyka, a joint venture with the Moscow Government and Sberbank, is the next step of a bigger plan for the integration of public transport in Moscow and Moscow Region, part of which is the creation of a unified and convenient ticketing system for the entire Moscow Region for passengers and carriers to enjoy. Our residents have asked for that more than once. We have a combined Strelka / Troika card, but in fact, they were two different cards within the same carrier and two different wallets and loyalty programs: you can't use Troika in Moscow Region or Strelka in Moscow. A unified ticketing system will remove all these inconveniences for millions of residents commuting between Moscow and Moscow Region every day.'
