Registration has opened for Sber's traditional race, part of the Green Marathon project. The run will take place in parks in 180 cities on June 5, World Environment Day. The Moscow race will be at VDNKh. The list of cities and conditions for participation are available on the website https://greenmarathon.ru/.

Sber launched the Green Marathon project together with Sberbank Charitable Foundation Investment to the Future and the SberTogether platform. This year the goal is to draw attention to environmental issues and encourage residents of Russia to take a few simple steps to help solve these issues.

To lead a full life, a person needs healthy food, clean water, and fresh air. Throughout our lives, we consume our planet's resources without noticing the scale of our consumption. The ecological footprint is a method to measure the speed and scale of our impact on the environment. It is measured in global hectares. Humanity's eco-footprint exceeds the planet's capacity by 60%. We are all capable of playing our part in addressing this problem. That is why the slogan of this year's Green Marathon is: 'Every step is a footprint. What step will you take?'

In the framework of the Green Marathon, Sber, Sberbank Charitable Foundation Investment to the Future, and the ECA movement will plant 180,000 seedlings in honor of Sberbank's 180th birthday. The campaign was organized in support of the Southern Forest Belt of Russia project, which aims to plant trees to combat desertification in the southern regions of Russia - from Rostov Region to the Republic of Buryatia.

People who are interested can support the campaign by participating in the Green Marathon and its environmental initiatives:

- donating to environmental projects on the SberTogether portal;

- participating in the Moscow run - all funds collected from participant registration will go to Sberbank Charitable Foundation Investment to the Future for tree planting;

- as an ambassador, living green and raising awareness of environmental issues.

As part of the Green Marathon project, Sber has also launched an eponymous mobile app through which people can register and learn more about the project.

The mobile app can be downloaded at the link - https://gmarathon.page.link/partner - and in the App Store and on Google Play.

This year's Green Marathon will help us consider how our quotidian consumption affects the planet. Few people know that the eco-footprint of a single-use paper cup is equal to 550 g СО2. If, for example, we were to drink a cup of coffee out of a cup like that once a day, we would accumulate up to 200 kgСО2 in a year. By the way, we can compensate for this by planting one tree. Through the Green Marathon, we want to convey the concepts of saving the planet and conscious consumption to all people in Russia and protect our planet for our descendants.

Herman Gref

CEO, Chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank

In our education-related products, we highlight questions of conscious consumption and respect for the environment. Alongside new and universal competencies targeted through the foundation's programs, environmental thinking is just as important a skill for the wellbeing of people in the 21st century. That is why our foundation is actively participating in this project. What is of particular importance here is that environmental education challenges are tackled through active, helpful, and educationally proven actions that will lead to new forests nationwide.

Pyotr Polozhovets

Executive Director of Sberbank Charitable Foundation Investment to the Future
