Schroders Group Chief Executive Officer Peter Harrison has been named 'Industry Leader of the Year - Male' at Financial News' (FN) prestigious Asset Management Awards 2021.

The flagship industry awards, now in their 20th year, recognise excellence in institutional investment management in Europe. The winners were voted on by a panel of industry experts and senior FN editorial staff.

As part of Schroders #CollectiveAction charitable response to Covid-19, more than £4.3million was raised by the firm for the most vulnerable people affected by the pandemic. This employee-led initiative provided support to 93 charities across 90 countries.

Furthermore, Schroders executives, including Peter Harrison, donated 25% of their pay for three months and executive directors also contributed a portion of their variable pay.

Financial News commented:

"[Peter] Harrison won plaudits from the judging panel for his leadership through Covid. He and other top Schroders executives gave up 25% of their salaries for three months and donated their long-term incentive awards to Covid-19 relief efforts. The firm also grew during the year to become the UK's largest listed fund manager."

Completing a successful performance, Schroders was also a runner-up in the Asset Manager of the Year category.

During a challenging 12 months, Schroders has continued to deliver strong active investment performance for its clients, enhance its focus on impact and sustainability from both an investment and corporate perspective and prioritise the wellbeing of staff.

As a corporate and investor, Schroders recognises the fundamental role it plays in making sure the companies in which it invests are on the journey to net zero and a sustainable future.
