The new signage is required as part of a Group-wide initiative to enhance the provision and wayfinding at its developments. However, rather than installing traditional signage, the company is taking the opportunity to use more environmentally-friendly options that will also enhance biodiversity by creating low shrubs, wildflowers and pollinator-friendly planting, and which will provide homes for various insect and bird species, allowing local ecosystems to thrive.

All materials will be sustainable and recyclable, meaning that nothing will ever go to landfill. Aluminium and steel, which both use a large proportion of recycled materials and opal acrylic, which is fully recyclable at the end of its life, will be used in the structures. The bases will be in-filled with reclaimed materials and recycled aggregates such as bricks, stone, pipework and concreate, sourced from existing demolition works on SEGRO estates or from a local construction recycling centre to avoid carbon emissions from transportation.

Paul Dunne, Managing Director, Group Operations at SEGRO, said:

"Our commitment to reducing carbon and managing responsible operations is integral to all parts of our business.

"The initiative falls under our Responsible SEGRO framework - a strategy that guides the company's approach to delivering low carbon growth, investing in local communities, enhancing biodiversity and local environments, and nurturing talent.

"This signage is another example of the micro-details that contribute to our detailed and creative approach in taking both small and large steps to enhance biodiversity."

The new designs will be more visible and striking, replacing all existing signage across SEGRO's estates over the next few months.
