FundFire taps into the much discussed, but not yet widely executed, interest in ESG investments. Referencing data from a study conducted by SEI and the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges (AGB), higher education institutions have begun to show more interest in including environmental, social and governance screenings within their investments. 29% of universities surveyed said they were including ESG within their investment strategies, compared to only 19% in 2020.

"Among the endowments SEI surveyed that had ESG investments…65% included ESG as part of the criteria in their investment policy statements"

Both endowments and foundations would like their investments to align with their values, reports FundFire, the only hesitancy is determining what makes a strategy ESG-compliant and what does not. With in-depth discussion and better governance structure, we may see more significant ESG investments.
