SHANGHAI (AP) _ Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMICY) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $138 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Shanghai-based company said it had net income of 12 cents.

The chip manufacturing company posted revenue of $938.5 million in the period.

SMIC shares have more than doubled since the beginning of the year. The stock has nearly quadrupled in the last 12 months.
