  • High-quality protective glove from Austria available in retail stores for the first time
  • Market launch with BIPA in early September
  • Production at the only European production facility for surgical gloves in Wimpassing, Lower Austria

Vienna/Austria, 2 September 2020 - The protective gloves of the Austrian Semperit Group, which have been tried and tested by medical personnel, will also ensure professional safety in Austrian households in the future: from the beginning of September 2020, Semperit's protective glove, which is resistant to coronaviruses among other things, will be available in household sizes for end users at the Austrian drugstore chain BIPA.

'The massive demand for protective equipment in the context of CoViD-19 can often only be fulfilled by foreign manufacturers who do not always meet EU standards. In order to counteract this problem and the associated quality deficiencies, we have decided to also produce protective gloves for end users at our domestic headquarters in Wimpassing. After supplying more than 60 million examination and protective gloves for medical personnel at the beginning of the corona crisis, we are pleased that we can now also contribute to improved individual protection during the pandemic in Austria with Semperit's protective glove for end consumers,' says Martin Füllenbach, Chairman of the Executive Board of Semperit AG Holding.

The glove production in Wimpassing is the only production facility for surgical gloves in Europe. In the future, Austrian households will also benefit from the strong focus on quality that is necessary to meet the high demands in the medical sector. The Semperit protective glove is produced from a renewable raw material; the glove material is resistant to bacteria, fungi and viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, hepatitis B&C and HIV. Semperit protective gloves will be available in about 600 BIPA stores throughout Austria, and in the BIPA online shop at www.bipa.at.
