Sempra Energy on Friday reported that it swung to a loss in the third quarter after a one-time charge, while revenue rose.

The energy-infrastructure company's loss per share was $2.03, compared with earnings of $1.21 a share in the comparable quarter a year ago. The net loss attributable to common shares was $648 million, compared with earnings of $351 million a year earlier.

The result included an after-tax charge of a $1.1 billion connected to civil litigation related to the 2015 Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility leak, it said.

Adjusted earnings were $1.70 a share. According to FactSet, analysts were expecting $1.69 a share.

Revenue rose to $3.01 billion from $2.64 billion.

Looking ahead, the company continues to expect to reach the upper end of its full-year adjusted EPS target range of $7.75 to $8.35 in 2021. However, it lowered its EPS target range to $3.01 to $3.61 from $3.83 to $4.43 for the full year.
