Serco Australia is pleased to announce that it has been shortlisted for the redevelopment and expansion project of the existing Frankston Hospital in Victoria, Australia (the 'Project').

The Project will ensure that the growing population in Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula have easy access to high-quality medical services in their local community. The redeveloped and expanded Frankston Hospital will provide a multi-level acute services tower, new maternity, obstetrics, and paediatric wards as well as a new women's clinic. There will also be additional beds capacity and operating theatres and improved mental health and oncology services.

The Project will be delivered as an availability-based Public Private Partnership ('PPP') with the State of Victoria and has an estimated capital cost of AUD562 million. Up to 1700 jobs are expected to be created during construction as well as additional employment opportunities once the redeveloped hospital is fully operational.

Serco is a part of the Pulse Health Partnership consortium, which includes global partners John Laing and BESIX Watpac. If successful, Serco will act as facilities manager undertaking soft services delivery and all asset maintenance and replacement for 25 years.

Serco Australia CEO Peter Welling said: 'Serco is delighted to be involved in this significant PPP which will become a crucial element of the State of Victoria's Healthcare system. We bring significant global healthcare experience to the Mornington Peninsula which we have utilised over the past 10 years across Australia in clinical and support services. Our recent acquisition of leading facilities management company, Facilities First Australia (FFA) enhances this work combining local specialised facilities management knowledge in health and aged care facilities with our global expertise.'

'Serco is already an important part of the Victorian community where our 4500 staff employees working across some 30 sites throughout the state deliver exceptional services. This future looking project will provide quality healthcare services and additional capacity for the local community for years to come.'

'We look forward to the next stage of the process as we continue to work with our partners to develop the best solution for accessible and high-quality services for the local community, Peninsula Health and the Victorian Government.'
