Shanghai's two airports hit a record high in number of passengers over the recent Spring Festival travel rush, which ended on March 3, with as many as 11.2 million people passing through its Pudong International Airport and Hongqiao International Airport, for an increase of 3.2 percent over the same last year period.

During the 40-day travel hustle, the two airports handled 80,749 aircraft, up 5.3 percent on a yearly basis and Pudong handled up to 7.09 million passengers, up 6.6-percent year on year, and 51,847 aircraft takeoffs and landings, up 5.5 percent, while Hongqiao handled 5.1 million people and 28,902 aircraft movements.

The two airports had their busiest day on Feb 14 as they served up to 2,000 aircraft movements and 30,000 passengers.
