Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport are expected to serve as many as 9.3 million passengers during the upcoming 40-day Spring Festival travel rush, or "Chunyun Period", with an increase of 7.39 percent over a year earlier.

During the "Chunyun Period", two Shanghai airports will handle up to 69,000 aircraft takeoffs and landings, up 4.89 percent year on year. Specifically, Pudong airport is expected to serve 5.5 million people and 42,000 aircraft movements, with 3.8 million people and 27,000 takeoffs and landings will be handled at Hongqiao airport.

The two airports will welcome an out-bound travel peak in the week before the Spring Festival Eve from Feb 11 to 18, while a post-festival travel peak will start from Feb 21 - the third day of the Lunar New Year. The daily passenger throughput is expected to surpass 200,000 passengers during the travel peaks.

Currently, to ensure every passenger can enjoy a safe, punctual and satisfactory journey, Shanghai Airport Authority and related sectors have made good preparation for the upcoming peak travel season, including personnel training in countermeasures against bad weather conditions and emergency situations, equipment and facilities, contingency plans and diversified services like APP, hotline 96990 and special channels.
