Through bold, innovative designs, we have developed a contemporary, stylish hotel experience inspired by the city's magnificent steel heritage to create one of the most anticipated destinations for domestic and international guests. We are also excited about opening our doors on the eve of the 2022 Winter Olympics and celebrating this significant event in Beijing."

An Immersive Cultural Experience

Located at the heart of Shougang Park, the new hotel embraces stunning views of Shijingshan Hill and Qunming Lake. Among its neighbours are the Snowboard Big Air Venue for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Chang'an Mills. The hotel transforms an old power plant into a new urban living space, introducing a range of environmentally friendly features and technological advancements. It will meet the needs of business travellers and leisure guests while also creating a new landmark for Beijing's urban revival and promoting the promoting the cultural, industrial, and ecological rejuvenation of Shougang Park.

Led by renowned Italian designer Piero Lissoni, Milan-based design firm Lissoni Casal Ribeiro S.p.A was responsible for the hotel's design concept. Building on the original architectural foundation of the former Shougang Power Plant, the designers have paid homage to its industrial heritage by honouring the building's historical value and complementing this with Shangri-La's modern style and Asian sensibility.

The hotel complex is made up of three buildings. The first carefully maintains the original framework of the power plant while adding an extensive glass façade that encloses the building and leaves its structure intact while allowing natural light to infuse the space inside. The hotel's main entrance and lobby are filled with steel elements that recall its past and wooden patterns that create a sense of warmth. A red steel spiral staircase connects the different public spaces, bringing a touch of added brilliance to the overall aesthetic.

An extension of the main building, the second building houses the hotel's banquet and event spaces, fitness centre and children's playground. The third and final building in the hotel complex houses 283 guest rooms and suites that range from 42 to 84 square metres in size. The rooms are decorated in an Asian style with soft tones and minimalist lines, and offer stunning views of Shijingshan Hill, Yongding River and Qunming Lake through floor-to-ceiling windows.

A Harmonious and Natural Green Space

Every element of the design at Shangri-La Shougang Park, Beijing, offers a sense of being immersed in nature. Evergreen plants transform the hotel lobby into an indoor garden, while the lobby lounge presents a tranquil, garden-like atmosphere for guests.

Throughout the hotel, guests are treated to displays of art inspired by Shougang Park and the surrounding natural environment. In the lobby atrium, a mesh wire installation titled "Journey of Hope" by Japan's Studio Sawada Design is inspired by the birds that migrate to Yongding River every season. The artist has created white "flying birds" from abstract geometric shapes that gradually expand from the ground floor to the roof. Exclusively created for Shangri-La Shougang Park, Beijing, the artwork represents the transformative spirit of Shougang Park and the hotel's harmonious existence with the environment.

In line with Shangri-La's commitment to sustainable development, the hotel also features many elements that are designed to reduce its impact on the environment. All guest rooms are equipped with air purification systems and drinking water taps to reduce the need for single-use plastic and support environmental protection.
