Sharp NEC Display Solutions recently announced its NEC MediaPlayer software, featuring the NEC Raspberry Pi Compute Module. The company also validated the device with Matrox Video's Maevex 6100 Series multi-channel coders to deliver an end-to-end streaming platform over LAN, WAN and internet, according to a press release.

This modular system-on-a-chip software supports streams up to 1080p at 60 frames per second.

"The NEC MediaPlayer and Matrox Maevex Series pairing offers tremendous value to digital signage customers as they can now benefit from a real-time, end-to-end streaming system," Jorg Langeheine, account manager, Matrox Video Europe, said in the release. "We are excited to see Sharp NEC leverage the exceptional video quality of our Maevex-generated streams with NEC's Compute Module MediaPlayer operating as a valuable endpoint and the new deployment opportunities this offering will bring to the digital signage community."
