Sharp NEC Display Solutions, a projector and display producer, has made ActiveScene, an AV solution that transforms glass walls into digital signage, available on the XOGO media player, according to a company press release.

"We are proud to work with XOGO to make ActiveScene more accessible to users, and XOGO makes content management as easy as can be," Rich McPherson, of Sharp NEC Display Solutions, said in the release. "By integrating with XOGO, users now have more flexibility and power when it comes to playing content and utilizing glass walls in completely new ways, specifically in retail and corporate settings. The sky is the limit in terms of how, when, and where high-impact content can be displayed."

ActiveScene is a partnership between Sharp/NEC and Avery Dennison. The solution combines NEC's projector technology with Avery Dennison's Vela window film that is applied to a glass wall or interior window. The film can change from transparent in its "on" state, to opaque in its "off" state, providing a surface for projecting digital signage, video, and other content.

In retail environments, ActiveScene can be displayed at mall storefront windows and in museums and theme parks, it can be used to deliver interactivity and messaging about exhibits and rides; in corporate settings, it can provide privacy for glass walls in conference rooms and a medium for presentations.

"We're delighted to partner with Sharp/NEC on this groundbreaking new technology and can't wait to see the creativity that it will inspire," Chad Brown, CEO, XOGO Decision Signage, said in the release. "XOGO's integration with ActiveScene offers plug-and-play control of the revolutionary new solution. Simply tag individual items of content in your XOGO playlist with the corresponding ActiveScene status (i.e. transparent or opaque) and transform ordinary-looking glass surfaces into stunning digital signage in the blink of an eye."

The XOGO Manager app is available for Windows 10, Android, and iOS. It allows users to upload content, create playlists, and manage their players via the cloud. XOGO plays back JPEG and PNG graphics, MOV and MP4 videos, and URLs displaying infotainment feeds, social media, and web pages.
