EDINBURG, Va. (AP) _ Shenandoah Telecommunications Co. (SHEN) on Thursday reported a loss of $603,000 in its first quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Edinburg, Virginia-based company said it had a loss of 1 cent.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 4 cents per share.

The telecommunications service provider in parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia posted revenue of $64.4 million in the period, surpassing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $62.7 million.
